Chapter 20: She requested for his head
It was like a puzzle was presented to Hanes and Cedric was not patient for his answer as his gold gaze stared keenly at Hanes.
Hanes swallowed hard as his throat had gone dry. "Option 1," he barely says. There was a slim possibility his family might escape the guide, but there was nowhere for them to run if Cedric was coming after them.
The royal might in Darconia was no joke. "At least your brains are still functioning." Cedric spat at Hanes, but he could not be angry. There was no point in being.
"The sex trafficking chain is mainly controlled by the headquarters. They relay information about our victims if there is a specific target, but most times, we just kidnap random girls. They give information about the ships and location and all we do is relay those instructions to the people involved." Hanes started explaining further, but the majority of the things he mentioned were information Cedric was already aware of.
"Let’s skip the long grammar and go to something I don’t know. Where is the headquarters?" Cedric asked, that was what he needed to know the most.
"Unfortunately, that is information I am unaware of. That’s all I know." Cedric didn’t know if Hanes was telling the complete truth, but this was an outcome he suspected.
"How unfortunate that is." Cedric sighed then turned away to leave. One of his men unsheathed his sword to end Hanes life. He closed his eyes, waiting for the death to come, but the blade didn’t slice through his neck. It just stopped on his skin cutting him lightly with blood trickling down
Cedric stopped in his tracks as a thought popped into his head. Then he gave a sign to the knight to stop just in time before the blade could cut further.
Hanes stared curiously at Cedric’s tall figure. His broad back exuded power that made one weak to their knees. "One last question: why did you kidnap my wife to sell her to the trafficking operations?" He asked as his eyes darkened, but his back was against them, so no one saw the look in his eyes.
