Strategy number two: probe indirectly.
The fourth period was a Japanese history class, and once again, Tenjō-sensei visited the classroom.
Tenjō-sensei’s Japanese history class is very popular among the students.
She’s known for explaining historical events clearly and making many figures memorable, so names are easy to remember.
She also mixes in soft topics like popular historical content and news, which makes history very easy to understand, even for those who are not interested.
“…Nishiki-kun, your pen has stopped moving. Are you following the board?”
Her voice snapped me out of it, and I realized my notebook was completely blank.
I had been too focused on finding the right moment to ask her a question by taking advantage of the position of my seat and had neglected to write.
“Please don’t erase it! I’ll write it down now!”
From this front-row seat, my view is almost entirely filled by Sensei at the podium and the blackboard.
In addition to the seating position, it is especially easy to stop when Reiyu Tenjō is in front of me.
