I've Got A Mana Processor In A Magic World

Chapter 78: A Brief Glimpse

In the hallowed halls of an extremely massive castle that was built like it was meant to house titans, solid like it was cut right out of stone, yet still filled to the brim with gold tapestries, lush red carpets, and exquisite chandeliers, a meeting was in session, and the subject of discussion was exactly what Sage Maximus and the other person were just discussing.

"The reports have been confirmed," a bald headed man in purple robes spoke respectfully to the others seated at the large table. It was large enough that it held twenty four people, well spaced-out, easily.

"Some... humans really landed on Kryllos... Children. They have been absorbed by the various houses there after their uniqueness was discovered," the purple robed man announced, stilling the low chatter of the people seated at the table. "So far, three assassination attempts at three of the children have been made," he said so placidly, like he was talking about the weather.

"All failed, but we were able to injure one of them. The other two were more well guarded so we weren’t able to get close before the attempts were foiled," he said regrettably. "We suspect an external factor at play. Kryllos does not have interplanetary warp gates, they are one of the few still living in relative seclusion within our planetary neighbourhood of the section of this universe. We know they are aware of the presence of other planets, but they have never attempted communication or travel. They lack the magical knowledge for it. Hence, our deduction— They must have gotten some external aid. The way they have responded so calmly, swiftly, and correctly is uncanny," he surmised. "Their reaction and quick acceptance of the... humans was also weird. Little things like that might seem—"

"Get straight to the point!" He was cut off by someone else. A dainty looking girl seated with her legs crossed and with a bored look on her face. She had her blond hair tied up in an elaborate bun with silver pins that added to an overall exotic look. She was fully human. An Exalted. Clothed in pure white like a saint. But that was the only thing saint-like about her. "The main thing you’re trying to say is that you failed. And now, there are actual heretics roaming free in a neighbouring world, breeding as freely as they like and birthing even more heretics!" she said with an escalating tone.

"Yennefer..." a huge, broad man, built like a tank, cautioned softly with an air of authority. There were also Half-Exalted seated at the table with the Exalted—Direct bloodline Half-Exalted—technically her family. And most of them didn’t like Yennefer’s last statement.

"What?" she sneered. "It’s true!" She snapped, daring anyone to talk with a fierce gaze.

The table fell silent as they waited for her to calm down. The purple robed man who looked like a priest of some sort, had his head bowed deeply as he also waited for the girl to calm down, like her outburst was a regular occurrence.

But not everyone had the patience for her tantrums. A youthful guy, with his blonde hair left wild and untamed, ran a hand through to comb the tangled mess. He totally disregarded Yennefer and asked the priest directly, "Continue your report, Emissary."

The purple robed emissary shrunk his neck in his seat at being called out, he didn’t want to be a part of the sibling squabble that was about to happen.

Yeneffer had a deadly frown on her face as she prepared to launch into a tirade of very colorful words, but the man seated at the head of the table tapped the large table lightly to call them to order, making her swallow the words she was about to say.

"Emissary. What were the circumstances of their landing on Kryllos?" The man asked with a very deep baritone voice.

"We do not know the exact circumstances, but we do know that they ended up there by mistake," The emissary said.
