Chapter 57: Hands and River
As they were running towards the river, Lyra’s eyes suddenly locked onto a rabbit darting through the underbrush.
Without breaking momentum, she veered off course and chased after it, her speed allowing her to quickly close the distance.
In a flash of claws, she caught up to the rabbit and struck it down with lightning-fast precision.
She then picked it up in her mouth and continued running alongside Neo, the animal’s limp body clutched tightly in her jaws.
As they ran, she eventually slowed down and raised the rabbit up to her mouth, taking a big bite out of it.
Neo’s eyes widened in surprise at the sight of her eating the raw meat, but he tried not to show his discomfort.
After finishing her impromptu snack, she looked over him with a satisfied expression, seemingly unaware of his disgust.
Neo followed after her, still trying to process what he just witnessed.
He was grateful for his system’s ability to sustain him without food or water for a long time, as he didn’t think he could have handled eating like she did.
The sun continued to rise higher in the sky, casting a warm glow over the landscape.
Both of them finally reached the river’s around 9:00 am, their pacing and frequent stops having slowed their progress.
