Chapter 49: The Beginning of Something Great
"My name is Neo," he started with the introduction to make her trust him a little. "Could you tell me your name if you don’t mind?"
"I have no name..." she paused, "No, I don’t even have any memory."
"No memory? Did they do something to you other than injecting drugs?" he asked, feigning concern.
"Yes, they opened up my head and cut some parts of my brain," she responded, showing no hint of emotion despite the brutality of what had been done to her.
"That’s..." he said softly, his voice tinged with anger.
"Those bastards really don’t have any morals! I’m glad I made them suffer first before killing them."
She shrugged; her expression blank. "Should I thank you then?"
Neo was stunned by her words and was unable to reply right away.
"I have nothing to offer but my body. So, you can do what you want with it. I can just heal after." She raised her two hands, offering herself.
He sighed deeply, shaking his head. "That’s not why I’m here. I’m not going to use you like that."
She lowered her hands slowly, her expression still blank "Then what do you want?"
