Chapter 272: Embarrassed
"You must have lost your mind." Kenric seemed to be in shock after hearing about the Spirit Cores that Valerius had used to trade for help from the Dark Witches.
"Why are you saying that?" Annalise asked him as she felt Valerius entangling his fingers with hers while the four of them continued to follow the woman toward the guest quarters.
"You must know how rare and precious Spirit Cores are. Mother gifted him those on his eighteenth birthday but look what he has done. He surely doesn’t know any better." Kenric told her as he gave another very unimpressed look to Valerius who had decided to just ignore his youngest brother’s remarks.
A smile bloomed on Annalise’s lips and Kenric sure didn’t like it as he immediately called her out - "Little Bird, don’t tell me you warrant angry at him for his stupidity?"
"Annalise."
"Huh?"
"My name is Annalise. Don’t go around calling me other things out in public." Annalise felt her cheeks turning red when she noticed that the witch was paying her full attention to their conversation and she almost did a double take when Kenric suddenly called her ’Little Bird’ out loud.
The initial confusion left Kenric’s face and a sneaky smile took its place as he spoke - "What are you talking about, Little Bird? One outsider doesn’t consider as public. Besides, you are my Little Bird, how can I dare to call you something else? Never!"
"You..." Annalise felt like her face was literally on fire and she almost wanted to punch Kenric for his constant teasing. However, she didn’t get the chance to do anything more than speak out a frustrated word referring to him as Kenric went another step ahead in his teasing and kissed her... right there in the middle of the long corridor and in front of the witch.
