Chapter 245: The Most Powerful Ward of Four Realms
Annalise was almost shouting by the end of her sentence all the while she glared at Esme. His questions were now getting out of her control and she was feeling like he was making her confess something she had no clue about.
At some point, she had even climbed down from the bed, and now, she was standing in the middle of the room like a completely clueless person as she had no idea what to do next. Of course, she couldn’t leave as she still hadn’t found out anything about the Portal Hall incidents as they had completely taken a different path from there.
Instead of reacting shocked about her outburst, Esme remained calm, too calm for Annalise’s comfort. He too stood up from his seat and headed in her direction with long strides. Once he was standing right in front of her, he placed one of his hands on her shoulder, and she felt some sort of warm soothing energy passing through his fingers into her body.
Her usual instincts would have told her to pull away from his touch immediately, to stay away from his unknown but familiar powers. However, she felt nothing like that this time and her body even started relaxing. Even the soreness from before was gone.
It took a while before she was finally relaxed and able to communicate all over again. "I’m fine." She murmured before finally pulling away from him as she took a couple of steps back.
"Good. I apologize if my questions made you uncomfortable. I just wanted to see if anything has changed between us but it seems like even thousands of years couldn’t change the bond between us. I can finally relax now." Esme stated as he turned around and headed back to his chair and settled down in it all over again.
"Can you talk in a language that I can understand? It seems like you suddenly start talking about things that are somehow related to me but I still can’t understand how." Annalise couldn’t stop herself from complaining as she glared at tge man unhappily.
Esme nearly ignored her words but his next words made her forgive him almost immediately - "Alright. I’m ready to tell you about the incidents."
It didn’t even take Annalise a second before she had taken a seat in tge empty chair beside him with her full attention pointed at him. "Go ahead, start from the very beginning. Tell me everything related to those incidents, who was behind them, and what they really want."
Esme clearly arched his eyebrows under that mask of his but still started with the story of Portal Hall Incidents - "I won’t go into too deep of the story or about every single detail but..."
