Chapter 239: Whisper Of A Name
Annalise stared at Esme in surprise after what he just ordered her to do.
"Now. "His voice was booming with not only his commanding tone but also a weird sort of energy that almost made her feel like doing exactly what he was asking despite her own instincts that were telling her that it was not a good idea at all.
She found herself turning back to face the cloud-like wall and her eyes took in the contrast between the light clouds far deeper inside the wall while pure dark clouds were surrounding it heavily from the outside.
She almost took a step closer to the said wall of light and dark clouds when she suddenly returned to reality and stopped in her tracks before she could have stepped any further closer to it.
"No!"She exclaimed in shock as the realization of what she was about to do suddenly dawned over her and she turned to glare at the man."I’m not going to anything like that."
Esme stared at her in silence for a while before he suddenly started walking toward her and once again it took every bit of power inside Annalise to not step back and keep space from the dangerous man.
He stopped right in front of her, standing close enough to invade the bubble of her personal space. His hand moved to take hold of her chin between his thumb and forefingers and made her look up at his face as he spoke - " Unfortunately, you are too weak in your current state and that means..."
She watched with wide eyes as he brought his face closer to hers and his mask almost grazed her cheek as he placed his mouth next to her ear and whispered, "... you are nowhere near the level of either ignoring or rejecting my orders."
His hold on her chin almost tightened to a painful level as he whispered the last part - "Now go and do as I have ordered. Place your palms against the ward and tell me exactly
what you will see."
Till that point, Annalise was ready to once again reject his completely ridiculous order. However, as soon as his last words entered her system, she felt all the fight and reluctance leaving her body. Instead, she felt like she only needed to follow his order at all costs.
A voice inside her head seemed to be trying to remind her of something really important that she seemed to have forgotten all of a sudden but her entire brain and body were only thinking about doing what she was just told to do.
