The Veil of Darkness

Chapter 199: A Chat while sitting on Balustrades

Leaving the library, Annalise headed downstairs while Kenric decided to spend some time surfing through the long shelves of books to see exactly what sort of wonders the library was holding inside it.

She was contemplating what to do next and exactly when and how to summon the little snow lion when she suddenly met a very excited Pristine waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs.

"You are finally alone." The fairy chirped happily as she took hold of one of Annalise’s hands and started swinging it like a small kid.

Seeing her cheesy behavior, Annalise couldn’t help but question the woman’s motive. "What’s up with you today?" She asked while trying to get her hand out of the fairy’s hold but her attempt was in vain as Pristine was in no mood of letting go of her hand any time soon.

"There are so many things that I need to talk to you about. But let’s first find a proper place to talk because this definitely ain’t one of those." The fairy responded with just as excitement in her tone as was plastered on her face before she started dragging Annalise toward a certain direction that led to one of those portions of the ground floor of the castle that anyone hardly visited unless they had to clean that area to keep the castle well-maintained.

After all the time that Annalise and her staff had spent cleaning the castle and renovating it, the castle now no longer looked like an abandoned place and actually gave the vibe of the residence of the famous Dark Lords. Not only that but the castle was no longer giving them trouble by destroying all their efforts. The weather of the castle was perfect and matched the one from the outside world.

"Why this area? This is one of the most abandoned..." Annalise didn’t even finish her sentence before she was hit with the realization of why the fairy was taking her to that particular area to talk to her. Being one of the least visited areas of the castle, it would be the safest place for them to talk without anyone finding out about the fairy’s existence.

They reached the end of the long hallway and Pristine pulled her to sit on one of the balustrades of the corridor that connected with the pavilion built at its other end. This was her second time in that corridor and also the exact place where she first met Pristine.

"It’s been so long... I mean at least over two and a half months, are you still not comfortable about telling others about your existence? I’m sure everyone will welcome you happily as a new member of our little family." Annalise suggested more than asking the question as she took her seat on the balustrade with her back pressed against one of the many pillars creating the entire corridor.
