Chapter 179: Never Regret It
The dark lords sat on the floor of Annalise’s room while surrounding their wife who had finally calmed down a little bit after they constantly tried to make her feel better about the shock and fear that had gripped her tightly.
"Princess, do you want us to take you to the Grand Duke’s mansion?" Damien asked as he softly brushed his fingers through her hair while she sat on his lap with her head resting against his shoulder.
Valerius and Kenric were also sitting surrounding both of them with their hands resting against Annalise’s body to keep the woman aware of their presence beside her and also to comfort her in their own way.
In response to his question, Annalise immediately shook her head in denial, and while he did understand why she was reluctant to face her parents relating the issue, he knew that being emotional won’t solve things.
"But Princess, talking to your parents is the right thing to do." He pressed while pulling her body away from him enough to make her look at him. He couldn’t deny that both his heart and soul felt great despair at the sight of her sorrow-filled eyes. The smile that he was most fond of was nowhere to be seen, nor was the twinkle in her beautiful ocean-blue eyes that were now looking so lost.
He just wanted to keep her protected in his arms and never let her face the darkness and sorrow in the outside world. She was too pure for the grievances and the manipulation that the outside world carried.
However, no matter how much he wanted to keep her safe from every bad thing, he knew that he couldn’t do that. He couldn’t fight her wars, nor could he face her struggles and turn them into happy moments of her life. What he could do and should do, was to be there for her at every up and down of her life and to guide her through the thick and thin whenever she needed him to. That was what he promised to her in their Fae soul-bonding marriage vows.
Right at the moment what she really needed most was not to be kept hidden from the worries, truths, and secrets that were waiting for her. Instead, she needed to face them headstrong so that she could find the answers she never knew she was searching for. Even if facing the truth meant she was going to be in pain for a while, she still needed to do it so that she could walk forward in her life.
He couldn’t hide her from whatever was destined to come her way but one thing that he could do for her and would surely do was to stand right beside her and face her destiny along with her, just as a soulmate was supposed to do. Most importantly, he knew that he wasn’t alone, his brothers would also be there with him and their wife.
