The Veil of Darkness

Chapter 165: Fire and Earth

Dark crimson velvet drapes were covering hanging on most of the walls and in the area where they weren’t, Annalise found several paintings, wooden shelves, cupboards, and tables placed against them to fill the emptiness of the huge bed-chamber.

A huge vase was sitting on top of the table with some sort of dried spiritual herb decorated in it. The amount of earth element’s energy that it was radiating made it clear to her that the herb was more than just a decorative piece.

Aside from that, some other flower pots were sitting around the room with spiritual herbs growing in them, and as she picked on the presence of elemental energy inside the room, she realized that all the spiritual plants were related to fire or earth in one way or another.

A huge king-size bed was sitting on the left side of the room with similar velvet drapes hanging around it from the same center in the ceiling. The floor was covered in a thick red rug that appeared so soft that she wanted to take off her shoes and walk bare feet around the room.

"Do you like it?" Kenric asked in a soft voice as he kept his gaze fixed on her while she checked out the room with her keen eyes.

"Of course, I do! This is so beautiful... so you..." Annalise replied immediately as her eyes continued to inspect the room and she soon found herself asking, "The presence of your fire element is very evident here but what about your second element?" She finally turned to look at him as she waited for his response.

A small smile bloomed on Kenric’s lips as he closed the little distance between them and came to stand right next to her as he spoke, "My earth element is also right here. All you need to do is to search for it." His words were like a whisper next to her ear as he placed his hands on her waist and signaled her to do as he had just told her.

Annalise looked at him for a couple of seconds before she found herself closing her eyes and concentrating on her newly formed soulmate bond with him. The bond responded immediately, coming to life as his powers responded too.

She tried to put more of her focus on the task as she looked past his fire element and tugged on the earth element which responded like a lure to her Seelie fae blood. Once she was sure that she had a good hold over his earth, she finally opened her eyes and couldn’t hold back the gasp of pure surprise that left her mouth.

She found herself standing not in the bed-chamber but in a very beautiful garden, or more like a meadow, with tall trees looming around, bushes, shrubs, plants, flowers, small rocky mountain figures, and green grass that was reaching her knees.
