Chapter 154: Homesick
"The Wish Jewels from the two Portal Halls in tge Midnight Realm have already been retrieved and handed over to the Crown Princess Natalia. The guardian families and tge guardian beasts are under heavy protection. Mother is telling us not to worry about them and continue with our plans." Kenric told everyone as he finished reading the magical letter that was sent from tge Midnight Realm.
Listening to the man referring to their mother, Annalise was suddenly left in shock - she had a Mother-in-law, which meant there were chances for more in-laws to appear in tge scene too.
"Are you alright?" Leela asked her as the girl tapped on Annalise’s elbow to get the latter’s attention.
Annalise hurriedly shook her head to get rid of the thoughts as she gave Leela a soft smile. "I’m alright."
It seemed like the girl didn’t really believe Annalise but she still didn’t try to persuade the topic, instead, she changed the subject and asked, "Because of your introduction in the Mortal Palace, I now know that you are a Princess from the Seelie Empire but I still have no clue about your husbands’ identities other than the fact that they are dark faes. Can you tell me more about who exactly are they?"
Annalise opened her mouth and then closed it immediately. What she was supposed to say in response to that question? Even she had no clue about her husbands’ true identity. She was just as clueless as Leela was and tge only thing she knew for sure was that the dark lords were dark faes and very powerful.
"Why aren’t you saying anything? Tell me, I wanna know exactly who..."
"Is everything alright over here?" Kenric’s sudden appearance in front of them made both Annalise and Leela turn their attention to him. The latter quickly bowed her head and left without a single word or a second glance.
As soon as the girl was gone, Kenric stepped closer to Annalise and wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her into a hug. Even though there were so many people present around them, Annalise didn’t step out of his arms or even tried to stop him. She probably needed that hug way more than she knew.
