The Veil of Darkness

Chapter 122: Into The Memories

Being left behind while the dark lords would head to visit the Queen of the Mer Court, definitely didn’t seem like a good plan to Annalise. She was also curious to see the Mer court and meet the Seelie blood that seemed to have survived the great tragedy ten thousand years ago.

Yet looking at her husbands’ reaction, it was pretty clear that they had no plans of taking her along with them, and Valerius’ next words only confirmed her guess. "Not today, Annalise. We have something important to take care of right now. How about you look around the town in the meanwhile and meet the locals here? This place is protected by the powerful wards of the Mer Queen, so you will be safe here."

Annalise let out an unhappy sigh as she watched her husbands ride away on their horses as they headed in the direction of the mountains right behind the town where the magnificent waterfalls were located.

Suddenly being left all alone in a such non-familiar place, she had few options left in her hands. She could either use Valerius’ idea and take a look around the town, or she could just return to her room inside the inn and wait for her husbands’ return.

Letting out another sigh, she gave a last look at the departing figures of her husbands before she returned inside the inn to rest for a while. The long journey and multiple unexpected incidents over the past couple of days had tired her out and the first thing that her body and mind wanted the most was nothing else than a proper rest, one where her body didn’t need to move, her mind didn’t need to think, and her powers didn’t have to be on alert all the time to protect her.

Changing into a comfortable gown, she hurriedly laid down on the warm and comfortable bed. It didn’t even take her too long to feel deep in the slumber.

When Annalise opened her eyes again she found herself standing in a very unfamiliar place that was filled with white fog and nothing else. Even the floor where she was standing couldn’t be seen because of the thick fog.

Her heart picked up speed as she realized that something really wrong was going on and unfortunately, she was once again all alone to deal with it. Just as she was about to lose her mind, her gaze landed on the snow beast that had suddenly appeared in front of her.
