Chapter 97: One Month
Damien hesitated for a while, contemplating what to tell her and how. He couldn’t just tell her that he heard her father and the king discussing about their grand plan that included her and her husbands.
But one look into her ocean-blue eyes and he had already made his mind. "Fine, let me show you then. Consider it payback for what I just did."
He didn’t give her enough time to react or say anything in response before he was already beside her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her tightly into his embrace as he crashed his mouth over hers.
Allowing her to take a peek into his memories didn’t really need him to kiss her, it could be done as simply as by just holding hands. However, he still chose to use the kiss as the bridge and it was not for her.
Instead, it was something that he needed badly for himself - to feel her emotions again so that he could assure himself that she was still his, that she didn’t despise him for trespassing into her memories.
The kiss did the magic as he was expecting. It made Annalise’s guard falter as she was taken by complete surprise, allowing him to feel her emotions. He realized just how hurt she was because of him taking advantage of her but at least, he didn’t find any sort of negative energy from her towards himself.
He ended the kiss only to pull the woman into a tight hug. "I’m so sorry, Princess. I’m really sorry. Please don’t shut yourself and forbid me from feeling your emotions. If you want, I can swear to never peek into your memories ever again without your permission."
Annalise remained still in his arms for a while before she finally moved but instead of returning the hug, she just pushed him away once again. "At least, you are aware that you were wrong for using our bond like this. But apologies don’t always make the wrong things right. I just can’t forget that you took advantage of me right after pledging a sacred bond with me in our wedding vows."
Her voice was filled with emotions as she stared at him with her ocean-blue eyes brimming with hurt. That look in her eyes was making his heart clench in pain as he realized just how hurt she was because of his actions.
It wasn’t all about him using the bond to peek into her memories, instead, it was because of all the hurt and pain he had caused her in the past week or so. Even though they were now bonded through the sacred soulmate bond, it only diminished her anger towards him to a certain point, it didn’t take away the pain she was experiencing because of him.
