Chapter 34: The Flowers Bloomed (Part Four)
Annalise bit her lip as she felt embarrassment taking full control over her. She just wanted to disappear and never appear in front of Lord Damien.
The said man moved closer to the bed and kneeled beside her, placing the two of them at eye level. His piercing crimson orbs almost took away her breath.
Annalise pulled the quilt up to cover her breasts before tightly wrapping her hand over her collarbone to make sure she won’t end up naked all over again. And even though she tried her best to keep her movements slow to not attract his attention, the smile playing on his lips was a clear indication that she failed badly.
He brushed a loose curl away from her face before playing her cheek. "What’s wrong, Princess?" His eyes were keenly observing her every little movement as if he was searching for something.
Annalise opened her mouth but then immediately closed it, she had no idea what to say. But when the Lord kept looking at her, waiting patiently for her response, she had to speak. "I... I am... sorry!" The apology came out in a barely audible voice as she pulled her eyes to look at her hands, too ashamed to look at him.
She felt his hand moving before he took hold of her chin between his thumb and forefingers and made her look back at his face. "Why apologize? Have you done anything wrong?"
Annalise felt her insides turning at his question. He was doing it on purpose, pushing her to say it out loud. She felt her eyes filling with unshed tears as her emotions got the best out of her.
"You aren’t allowed to cry, Princess. Unless you answer my question." It wasn’t a request, instead, it was a command that she had to listen to.
Her tears froze immediately as she tried to control her emotions but it was proving way harder than she thought.
