"I've woken up again."
From under the pillow, Chen Feng casually picked up his cell phone.
The time was precise, still 7:05 in the morning.
He got up and drew back the curtains; the sunlight was blinding.
Outside, the buildings on the street rose and fell in succession, with old neighborhoods indistinguishable from the bustling high-rises.
A slight summer breeze brought rustling from the trees lining the tarred roads, while cleaners with brooms swept, and groups of elderly men and women practiced Tai Chi in the square.
For a moment, the serene and tranquil scene contrasted with the eerie darkness of the dream.
Chen Feng stood still for a few minutes before slowly adjusting back to the reality of his return.
"Perhaps, that was a real world."
