Chapter 140: GOOD! THAT’S A SPIRIT!
"I am planning to," Laurel replied sharply, lifting her chin in defiance. Her gaze shifted to Ema, and she smirked. "You know what? You look so pathetic. On the wedding day, I could see you wished you were the bride. I could smell your jealousy."
"Nonsense!" Ema denied it too fast; it was less convincing when all the people in this room knew the truth.
"Your jealousy towards Hazel is so obvious. You envy her for finally being with Ranon, and you wish you were in her place, don’t you?"
"What are you talking about?" Ema was shaking her head, tears pooling in her eyes. "I didn’t... I didn’t think that way."
Laurel disregarded her denial, turning her attention back to her father.
"Do you know what, Father? In the end, you will have nothing but your young and pathetic wife while all your children despise you," she stated; her voice was sharp, holding so much anger in every word she said.
Then, pointing her manicured finger at Ema, she continued.
"And this person? Do you really think she loves you? She loves what you can provide her. She is just longing to be with another man, and you know who that man is."
Probably because of this reason also, why Denzel couldn’t really connect with Ranon.
Denzel had to admit what he had done was wrong and immoral to say the least, but in the end, it was Ema’s decision, and she decided to choose him over his son.
"You are also pathetic, Father," Laurel added sharply, the words hanging heavily in the air. The tension in the room became almost suffocating.
