If River’s targets were only Aubrey and Arlo, she didn’t need to take this long to make a move and to hide herself, unless she was badly injured.

He was the one who taught River how to make a plan, but now he couldn’t even guess what was in her mind. He didn’t know whether he had to be happy or annoyed by her...
Actually, the fact that Arthur couldn’t find anything related to Arlo and Aubrey was because of Jack’s intervention.
Jack had tampered with the record that Arthur received in order to cover the traces of Arlo and Aubrey.
Arthur was a step behind in this case because Jack had thought about it first and made a move. Now he knew the truth.
Still, he needed a confirmation about it since the truth was very wild and was hard to discern. He called for Arlo to come home and meet him in his study room.
"Do you call me, Father?" Arlo entered the room, but a book flew towards him.
It almost hit his face if he didn’t dodge it quickly. He knew he was in trouble, but he was not sure what kind of trouble he was in.
Therefore, he had expected this kind of ’warm welcome’ from Jack.
"Tell me the truth," Jack said, his voice deep and dark. He looked at his son with a condescending look as if he wished Arlo would disappear from his life.
