Chapter 89: RANON WAS BEING TOO MUCH
Marcus slapped her so hard to the point that Valerie’s glasses broke. She stumbled back, and her head hit the corner of the table. The broken glass cut the corner of her eyes, and the pain from hitting her head against the table made her head a little bit dizzy.
She didn’t know what Marcus said next; she only heard him screaming without knowing what the words he was saying to her were. Her ears were ringing, her head was hurting, but the agony she felt came from the fact that she had lost her loving brother.
Her big brother was not like this before. He used to be loving and protective of her. Never in her life would she imagine that he would slap her like this, not to mention for him to turn out to be like this.
And after Marcus left, Valerie came to a realization that she felt safer whenever he was not around, when in the past it used to be the other way around.
How could things go so badly between them? How could he change so much? For the last few years, she didn’t know what exactly Marcus was doing with the crowd of people that he worked for, but she knew it was not something good.
And now whatever bad things they did had corrupted his mind as well.
Valerie wept; she cried so hard until she couldn’t breathe properly. She mourned the loss of her brother. It almost felt like he had died.
The Big Brother that she knew had gone; and when she finally could regain her composure, she looked at her reflection in the mirror as the sun appeared on the horizon.
It was already morning, and apparently Valerie had cried for hours throughout the night.
