Chapter 16: IT’S NOT WORTH IT
Ranon kept his word; he drove Hazel back to her home.
During the drive, Ranon didn’t say anything; hence, Hazel used this opportunity to take a nap until they arrived. But as she had been very tired the whole day, emotionally and physically, she didn’t wake up even when Ranon had stopped driving.
The man stared at the woman next to him. She looked as innocent as a baby right now, but he happened to catch the sight of how fierce her eyes were when she stared at Arlo Barlowe.
Did they know each other? There was no information or connection that could make him draw that conclusion.
Furthermore, the Rose and the Barlowe family had different lines of business, as far as Ranon knew.
But what about this woman?
It was a mystery. This woman was a complete mystery for him.
Ranon remembered the night he spent with her and the stain of blood on the bedsheet. She had never been with anyone, and he was pretty sure she was a virgin, but for someone who had just lost her V card to a stranger, Hazel was very chill about it.
"Who are you?" Ranon talked to himself, and when he wanted to wake her up, Hazel opened her eyes abruptly and caught his hand. Her eyes were alert. He saw this before when he appeared all of a sudden behind her back. She had her guard up. "We are here."
Hazel blinked her eyes, and her expression was less guarded. "Oh. I am sorry; I fell asleep." She let go of his hand, but instead, Ranon was the one who held hers. "Hmm? How can I go if you are holding my hand?"
"Are you on a pill?"
