Chapter 14: THE DEAL WITH RANON LEIGHTON
Actually, that was not entirely an excuse, because she really liked the lamb chop here even though she didn’t realize that she had eaten all four portions while waiting for Ranon.
"Oh, if you wanted to eat, I would wait for you," Hazel said; she felt a little bit embarrassed for herself.
"No need." Ranon called a waitress to clean up the table and ordered a glass of iced coffee, while Hazel ordered a glass of juice and water.
"What do you want to offer?"
Probably because Ranon just wrapped up his previous meeting, his demeanor was still the same. He talked in a businesslike tone of voice, very formal.
"It’s very simple," Hazel said. "Based on our last conversation, I am going to help you find out who wanted one of the Leighton family dead."
"What do you want in return?"
Hazel had thought about this. "I want half the shares of my family’s company."
"That’s something that I can’t help you with. That’s your family problem." Ranon sipped his coffee. He could help expand her family’s business or cause some trouble to their company. But regarding the shares, it was something that Hazel had to work on on her own.
"I know that," Hazel said. "I only need you to have my back."
"To what extent?"
