Chapter 125: Title of a Man, Burden of a Shaft
Nathan’s eyes flew open wide. But there was no pain. No sensation of impact.
Lilith’s fist was still embedded in his forehead like it had gently phased through skin and bone and logic.
Then she slowly pulled it out—no blood, no gaping hole. Nothing but a faint shimmer of violet light that faded as her knuckles left his skin.
She smiled like a school nurse who just convinced a kid he didn’t need a band-aid.
"There we go," she said calmly. "A little tease for my beloved son," She chuckled.
Nathan didn’t move. His breath caught. "What the fuck was that?"
"Told you, just a little tease, my dear." Lilith said. "Don’t worry. Only your soul came here. Your body’s still out cold, draped in monster hug and rabbit drool."
She gave a tiny laugh, eyes soft. "I told you I’d be a good mother. Didn’t I?"
Nathan blinked, stunned. "What?"
She walked past him, trailing light steps across the strange chamber. "I promised, remember? Back when you were alone below Prunus Vitalis tree." Her smile deepened. "Good mother don’t punch their kid on the face. I kept my promise, Didn’t I?"
Nathan swallowed, I can’t understand her weird behavior. He thought.
