Chapter 107: The Silliest King and His Royal Staff
Velmora approached with slow movement. In her hand, a circular arrangement of flowers—like a small crown—made from wildflowers with pale purple petals and bluish whites, still fresh as if just picked.
"Nathan..." she whispered, barely audible.
Nathan turned around and stood up. "Velmora," he said.
"This... is for you," Velmora continued with a slight smile, offering the flower ring.
Nathan accepted the flowers. His hand touched the soft petals, and his eyes narrowed a little. "This... looks like a crown," he murmured with a small smile.
Velmora nodded nervously. "Wear it on your head...?" her voice almost vanished.
Nathan looked at her for a moment—then, without saying much, he placed the flower crown on his head. It fit perfectly, light, and its scent was faint—like leaves after the first rain.
Velmora stepped closer again. This time, her snake tail guided her to the spot where Nathan had previously written the alphabet on the ground. Her eyes studied the traces of the letters with a face full of curiosity.
"Letter?" she asked while leaning down, her index finger touching the ’B’ on the dirt.
Nathan turned to face the writing. "Yeah, those are letters from my race," he said while brushing dust off his knees.
Velmora nodded slowly, she stood up and without a word, raised another flower ring—this time much smaller than the first. Only the size of a wedding ring, with tiny pale pink flowers.
