Alex tilted his head, a playful grin spreading across his face as he leaned slightly closer to Velenda. "How’d you even hear about it so fast?" he asked, his tone teasing, as if daring her to reveal some grand secret.
Velenda’s eyes sparkled with mischief, and she straightened, her chest puffing out as a beaming smile lit up her face. "I know everything that goes on in this school," she declared, her voice ringing with pride, each word dripping with the satisfaction of someone who thrived on being in the know.
"Nothing slips past me, Alex. Not a single whisper."
Alex let out a warm laugh, the sound rolling easily from his throat as he matched her grin. "Fair enough," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Good to know I’ve got a master spy watching my back."

She reached out, giving his shoulder a careful nudge, her fingers light to avoid his healing arm. "You’ve had a rough week, Alex. All this chaos swirling around you, it’s too much." Her voice took on a softer edge, laced with genuine concern. "Why don’t you come by my place this evening? It’ll be a chance to unwind, get your mind off all the stress that’s been plaguing you. Just some good food, maybe a few laughs."
The invitation caught him by surprise, but her sincerity tugged at him, and he nodded, a appreciative smile curving his lips. "Yeah, that sounds really nice," he said, his tone warm.
