Chapter 13: The council’s decision(1)
Alex let out a slow breath, glancing around as if searching for a better option.
But there wasn't one.
The choice to inflict for only 2 seconds wasn't ideal, not even close, but it was something.
And something, no matter how small, was better than nothing at all.
His shoulders lifted in a slight shrug, a quiet sign of resignation.
"Alright," he said at last, his voice carrying a mixture of acceptance and reluctance. "I guess that will have to do."
Then Lucan's face turned a deep shade of red, his skin burning with a mix of frustration and strain.
A single bead of sweat gathered on his smooth, bald head before slipping down the side of his face.
His features twisted into a grimace, as if he were struggling to contain the discomfort, or perhaps the fury, building inside him.
