Chapter 10: Successor 1
He pressed a hand to his chest as his heart pounded hard.
Blood pounded in his ears like drums. One wrong move, and it could tip into a heart attack.
After the panic faded, he dropped onto the short steps outside and stared at the spot where the old man had vanished.
No matter how he tried to explain it, nothing about what just happened made sense.
This wasn't normal—it was supernatural, and he knew it. He was caught in something way beyond him.
Anyone else would've cracked by now—at least a little. But not him.
His mind ran on a different frequency, maybe because being a genius meant being just broken enough to accept the unthinkable.
'Who the hell is my grandpa? And why did he drop me into this mess?' He rubbed the back of his neck.
But after thinking it over, he realized that shouldn't be his priority.
Right now, the real threat was ending up like the old man. Whatever got him could come for him.
'I need to get out of this freaky place first... but what if I disintegrate the second I step onto the road too?'
