Well, it might not be that exaggerated, but the fear was real.

Lucien couldn’t gamble too much.

So, before Lilith could activate the mark, Lucien suddenly let go of Sera’s ass, settling her down gently but firmly. Then, he slowly loosened his grip around her, pulling away from the kiss, dodging her long, restless tongue that still desperately traced his lips and sought entrance.

Lucien was genuinely surprised when Sera opened her eyes, looking up at him with those dreamy, breathless eyes, glazed and shimmering with raw need.
Her gaze was as if silently asking why he had stopped so abruptly; they were only just getting started.
Even her lips trembled as they chased after his, craving to resume their fiery session while her breath hitched in quiet, needy gasps, betraying her want.
She really was still unsatisfied, even after such a long, intense kiss.
