When I called her out a bit louder, Carol, who seemed to be waiting in the hallway, opened the door and came in. She somehow had an uncheerful expression.

Myaro turned around and greeted her.

Myaro was looking at Carol with a wondering face. She would have thought that Carol was different than usual.
