The competition lasted ten days and the first five days were the preliminaries. The preliminaries used a points system and each player would be assigned ten matches by the system. The matches would last ten minutes and it was 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. After the first preliminary round, the same system would be used for the top ten thousand people. The second round would only take the top three thousand and the third round would only take the top five hundred. Four rounds of preliminary screening would filter out the top hundred. Those that reached the top hundred would go through a five round preliminary to decide the top thirty two.
This meant that each player would go a full 45 matches in a row. Those that could rise to the challenge would be the true experts.
During the competition, the various countries would broadcast the competitions of other countries so they could learn about the progress of their competition.
