Chapter 455: The Power Of Death
The War Dragon lay on the shattered ground, having been defeated after that earthshaking battle with Kael.
Even as he lay on the ground, he was still stunned, he had not expected Kael to be able to defeat him so easily.
To him, Kael had a body designed specially to deal with a War Dragon like him. From speed to explosive force, Kael was not necessarily stronger than him in those areas, but he had enough to put the dragon commander in this situation.
"Come on, kill me..." Even when defeated, the dragon refused to show weakness of any kind.
Blood pooled out of his mouth and the open wound on his chest, with every passing moment, he slipped into the embrace of death.
His reptilian blue eyes lingered on the heavenly beacon floating beside Kael. He was devastated. His one and only escape route, his only chance to contact Ibadon, was now in Kael’s possession.
Kael looked down coldly at the dragon, he was waiting for someone. He had no intention of killing this dragon immediately, he still needed some information to be extracted.
Suddenly, a beam of golden light streaked over from the horizon and arrived at their location within a few dozen seconds.
The light faded away to show N’bayé’s figure.
N’bayé came to a stop in front of Kaeo, her body glowing with the light of her runic tattoos.
There was no need for audible communication between Kael and N’bayé, they already understood each other’s intent.
N’bayé waved her hand, summoning the power of a tier 6 entity. The whole world tilted towards N’bayé as the gravitational pressure leaking from her increased.
Thousands of runic circles appeared and revolved around her and the devastated land.
The golden runes spread out for thousands of kilometers, covering the sky of the whole nation they were in with beautiful diagrams and patterns.
Then, the rune circles rushed back toward N’bayé, rotating and combining to form the complex binding system N’bayé had ever made.
Red and gold strings shot out of the magic circles that wrapped around the body of the war dragon.
By the time N’bayé was done, the dragon commander was wrapped in a gold and red cocoon, leaving his dragon head exposed.
There was no escape from here, all his wounds which had been secretly healing up within his body stopped closing.
Only after this was done did Kael remove his gaze and look up.
Up above, linking the horizon to the sky above Kael were two arkships.
The moon could barely be seen as evening was just arriving. With his enhanced vision, Kael could make out the multiple streaks and blasts of light coming from the moon’s surface.
That battle was even more intense than Kael’s despite it being a very strange battle.
But Kael was more worried about the threat of Ibadon. Compared to that, these three tier 6 dragon commanders were not that serious.
He also thought of Nalii. There was some serious trouble if Kael did not act fast.
Kael crouched slightly...
*BOOM!*
Kael leaped into the sky, rushing upward like a meteor.
To get to where he was going, he utilized his spatial powers and sprouted wings.
At the same time, black mist began to ooze from his body, mixing with his golden fur and giving him a ghostly appearance.
As Kael ascended, he left behind a trail of black mist that released whispers and promises of death.
Death Essence.
N’bayé stayed on the Planet, keeping an eye on the war dragon while also spreading her senses to look for Priya, Olivia, and the others.
Especially the children and the caste leaders. They would have all been hit by that anti-power wave and temporarily lost their powers, thrusting them into a state of confusion.
Wherever they were, they might still be stronger than the average human, but they could still be hurt.
Times like this made one appreciate Kael’s existence. He was single-handedly maintaining the Conqueror Mode Avatar technique for multiple entities at the same time.
Something he had never done before. This was sure to consume a lot of Conquering Essence and hinder the operations of the Lion System, N’bayé was sure of that.
///////
On the moon, drops of blood floated around in low gravity.
Multiple craters littered the silver surface and small pieces of rocks and dust lingered in the atmosphere.
"Let me focus for fuck sake!" The fortune dragon raged, the essence of misfortune billowing around him.
But his enemies did not relent. They continued barraging him with well-placed and well-timed attacks.
The Fortune Dragon was now riddled with scratch marks and many yellow scales were missing from his body. Every movement he made now was followed by a sensation of pain that drove his mind to endless wrath.
But what could he do?
His strongest attack was the Fate Destroying Dragon breath that all Fortune Dragons had. Every other means of fighting back were innate and most of his techniques revolved around evading danger.
Fortune Dragons and Fortune Lions were powerful but their true potential would only come out when they were working with others.
This Fortune Dragon had been separated from his team members and had to rely on himself. He had pitiable combat ability even among tier 5 dragons.
If perhaps, all three dragons had stuck together. Three tier six dragons and one of them was a fortune dragon, Kael and his consorts would probably have had a harder time.
"He’s coming!" Zabita said telepathically, sending out a vast cluster of hospital-standard injection needles toward the dragon.
It was something she had hurriedly pulled out from the nearest hospital before coming.
Each needle was now coated in a golden sheen, making them look like they were made of gold.
As tiny as they were, their vast number showed that they proved even more of a threat than regular needles.
Seeing the needles and lionesses still coming after him, the fortune dragon decided to take another measure, if not he would not be able to escape from here alive.
He spread his large dragon wings and flapped, flying away from the moon and away from the needle swarm.
The dragon commander decided to go back to his arkship. Although it wasn’t working, he could use it as cover while he focused on opening the heavenly gate.
The warp effect condensed around his wings, allowing him to fly despite the lack of air for his wings to beat against.
He was fast, faster than the lionesses. Ruda could only chase him for some time but without a platform to launch herself, she was suspended in space with lightning crackling around her.
The only one who was able to keep up was Katari who had turned into the personification of despair for the dragon commander.
She was the most unpredictable one and all her attacks tended to come from the most unlikely places. About half of the injuries the dragon had now were due to Katari.
But it wasn’t enough, Katari knew that if the dragon was given just a little bit of breathing time, they would all be doomed.
Alas, with her being the only one who could chase the fortune dragon, it meant that she was the only one who could continue the relentless attacks.
This reduced the load on the dragon’s fortune powers and allowed him to easily dodge all of Katari’s attacks.
It was frustrating.
Suddenly, the fortune dragon’s eyes widened in shock as he felt the stability of his fate being threatened.
This wasn’t just a threat to his fortune, it was a threat to his life and a promise of certain death.
The dragon looked up to see a massive winged lion coated in black deathly mists, making a beeline toward him.
"It’s him!" The fortune dragon realized.
Katari was behind him and Kael was in front.
He panicked. He flapped his wings, condensing the warp effect and trying to stop.
Kael’s presence alone twisted his fortune aura beyond comprehension. As he stopped, one of Katari’s spatial blades hit one of his wings.
The fortune dragon commander was thrust into a state of panic as he felt himself lose control of his flight trajectory, but it was too late to fix anything.
*BAM!*
Kael slammed headfirst into the scaled chest of the fortune dragon, overloading his foe’s body with Death Essence in the process.
*ROAR!*
Both Kael and the fortune dragon commander flew back to the moon. Unable to worry about their environment, they smashed into the silver white surface of the moon, blasting rocks everywhere and creating an insanely wide crater.
Kael’s golden claws, coated in the power of death, pierced the sides of the fortune dragon and dug at the latter’s ribs.
At the same time, Kael clamped his mouth over the dragon’s lower jaw and began pulling.
Kael’s brutality shocked the fortune dragon. The Primordial Lion had just arrived and he had delivered more damage than the lionesses combined.
As Kael clawed and tore out the flesh of the fortune dragon, Death Essence flowed into the body of the dragon, causing serious damage and changing the properties of his flesh.
*RIP!*
Kael strengthened his neck muscles and pulled his head back forcefully. The lower jaw of the fortune dragon was ripped out in the process.
Tears escaped the corners of the dragon’s eyes as his mind blanked. The pain was horrendous.
But even the pain was dull compared to the feeling of his fortune being drained away by the Death Essence inside his body.
His consciousness slipped in and out of his mind with his body gradually turning into that of an undead dragon.
