Zhu Yun was taken aback, "You know them too? You aren’t friends with Yang Xiaoxi and Shen Mianmian, are you?"
Shen Mianmian and Yang Xiaoxi had spent a long time in Beijing and had gotten to know quite a few people, Zhu Yun knew that. Unlike her, whose husband’s relatives looked down on her and because she always stayed at home taking care of the children, she hardly had any friends.
"Not exactly friends, just acquaintances," the woman said. "I had a bit of a misunderstanding with them before, so we’re not on good terms."
Hearing that they weren’t on good terms, Zhu Yun felt like she had found an ally and immediately said, "I don’t get along with them either. Yang Xiaoxi is my cousin, and these past years becoming a big star and earning some money, she started looking down on us relatives, especially me. My family has been having some difficulties, and when I asked her to lend me some money to get by, she refused. She values money over everything else."
"That’s a bit too much," the woman agreed. "Being a big star does make a lot of money. Relatives should help each other out. If she has money, she should help you; if you had money, you should help her. That way everyone’s life gets better. Looking down on poor relatives once you make money isn’t right; just because you don’t have money now doesn’t mean you won’t have any in the future."
"Isn’t that the truth? When we were kids, she often wore my clothes, and whatever good food I had at my house, I gave it to her. I never thought she would grow up to be such an ingrate," Zhu Yun went on for quite a while before remembering to ask the woman’s name. "Oh, what’s your name, by the way? I’m Zhu Yun."
"I’m Tang Ling," Tang Ling said with a smile.
"That’s a nice name," Zhu Yun said, assessing Tang Ling. "Judging by your accent, you’re from Beijing too, aren’t you?"
"Yes," Tang Ling nodded.
