I made it clear then that if we ever ran into each other again, we should act like strangers. I have no desire to cozy up to you, and I expect you feel the same about me. A mother being spoken to like this by her own daughter – which mother could accept it?
"Exactly." Cheng Xining echoed, "Shen Mianmian, don’t you have any manners? I’ve never seen anyone talk to their elders like you do."
"Manners are reserved for those who understand reason," Shen Mianmian retorted with scorn in her gaze. "Neither of you would be standing here blocking my way if at least one of you could understand reason."
