Marvel: Empire of Power

Chapter 128 - 127: Hala’s Wrath, a Planet’s Stand, and the Cost of Apotheosis

The arrival of Accuser Hala the Veridian's Kree Purifier Fleet was not a subtle intrusion; it was a declaration of interstellar war, a crimson tide of warships materializing at the edge of Earth's sensor range with chilling precision. Three Kree Super-Dreadnoughts, flanked by a dozen heavy cruisers and scores of nimble Birds-of-Prey, formed an implacable, disciplined armada. Their energy signatures dwarfed anything Elias Thorne had previously encountered, making Admiral Varr-Gohl's ill-fated vanguard look like a mere scouting party. The System flared with dire warnings: [KREE PURIFIER FLEET (HALA THE VERIDIAN COMMANDING) – ARRIVAL IN SOL SYSTEM CONFIRMED. STRENGTH: OVERWHELMING (ESTIMATED 30:1 SUPERIORITY OVER ALL KNOWN TERRESTRIAL/ALLIED ASSETS). PRIMARY DIRECTIVE: PLANETARY STERILIZATION/SELECTIVE GENETIC HARVESTING (INHUMAN/MUTANT SIGNATURES). SECONDARY: ELIMINATION OF ALL TERRESTRIAL SUPERHUMAN DEFENSES AND ACQUISITION OF ADVANCED (THORNE) TECHNOLOGY. SURVIVAL PROBABILITY FOR EARTH (UNASSISTED): <0.01%.]

Elias Thorne, from his heavily shielded Sanctum Umbra orbital station, felt a cold, almost exhilarating pressure. This was the ultimate test, the culmination of three decades of planning, sacrifice, and ruthless ambition. He had Earth's most potent, most secret defenders arrayed. He had interstellar alliances, however fragile. He had the System. But against such overwhelming odds, even his god-like powers and demigod legions might not be enough.

"All assets," Elias's mental command resonated across his global network, a calm, unwavering anchor in the face of cosmic annihilation. "Operation Last Bastion – Final Phase. Execute predefined defense protocols. This is not a battle for territory; this is a battle for existence. Show them the true meaning of Terran resolve."

The Kree didn't waste time with broadcasts or ultimatums. Their opening salvo was a coordinated barrage of long-range plasma bombardment from their Dreadnoughts, targeting Earth's twelve Mk. III Orbital Defense Platforms. Finch's "necrotic energy scramblers" and O'Malley's advanced cloaking tech bought the platforms precious seconds, but Kree targeting computers, undoubtedly upgraded after their last encounter, quickly compensated. Six platforms vaporized instantly. The remaining six returned fire with their Element X particle cannons, scoring several glancing hits on Kree cruiser shields before they too were systematically obliterated. Earth's first line of orbital defense was shattered within minutes.

[ORBITAL DEFENSE PLATFORMS MK. III – TOTAL LOSS. KREE CASUALTIES: MINIMAL (SEVERAL CRUISER SHIELDS DAMAGED, MINOR HULL BREACHES ON ONE DREADNOUGHT). KREE ORBITAL SUPERIORITY ESTABLISHED.]

"They learn quickly, Creator," Marcus "Nox" Thorne's telepathic voice, now resonating with the combined strength of his Legionnaire will and the Klyntar's cosmic senses, cut through the grim tactical display. Nox, Lexicon "Vex" (his Klyntar symbiote now manifesting as intricate, shifting glyphs of dark energy around him), and the eight other True Legionnaires were aboard the newly refitted Nightfall II (O'Malley had been busy), a larger, more heavily armed FTL assault carrier, cloaked in a high Jovian orbit, waiting for their moment.

"Indeed, Nox," Elias replied, his mind already processing a dozen contingency plans. "Their discipline is their strength, and their weakness. They expect predictable resistance. We will give them... innovation."

His first major counter-move was to unleash Namor.

"Prince Namor," Elias projected across their psionic link, "Hala the Veridian approaches. Her fleet masses for planetary bombardment. The oceans are Earth's deepest shield, and you are its truest guardian. Can you... disrupt their orbital formations? Can your Atlantean energies reach them in the void?"
