All Things Are Contracts

Chapter 275: Facing the Demon Beast Alone

Between the vast mountain ranges lay a mysterious and magnificent canyon, a place of unparalleled beauty in this false world. The canyon walls were steep and treacherous, standing as if carved by knives and axes. Clear streams flowed between the rocks, shimmering like silver threads, resembling the Milky Way pouring down from the sky.

At the deepest part of the canyon was a crystal-clear waterfall. The water curtain fell straight down from the towering cliff, like a silver dragon leaping into the sky, breaking into millions of water droplets upon landing, soft as white silk. Rare and precious lingzhi grew on the green rocks beside the waterfall, their bodies translucent and emitting a faint fragrance.

The canyon was lush with trees, their shadows swaying. Ancient trees with intertwining root systems coiled like pythons underground, their sturdy trunks seeming to bear the weight of a thousand years. Above the canyon, a thin mist perpetually floated, making one feel as if in a fairyland.

No matter how beautiful the scenery, Zhanyue and his companion had no heart to admire it. They had hurriedly passed through this place before, only having a vague impression.

“Are you sure you don’t need my help?” The two stood on a high cliff, overlooking the distant cave. They both knew a great terror lurked in that cave.

“No need. I have a way to counter it, you don’t. In this battle, neither of us can use divine artifacts. Even if I’m not better than that demon beast, I have ways to escape,” Zhanyue explained.

Yunyao pouted without saying anything more. She hadn’t expected there would come a day when she would become a burden. But as Zhanyue said, she had no means to counter that demon beast. Last time, when she was bound by the beast’s spider web, if not for Zhanyue saving her, she wouldn’t have been able to break free. That spider web was incredibly strange; even her spatial techniques couldn’t escape it.

Zhanyue spread his phantom wings and flew over. He directly threw himself into the embrace of danger, like a lamb entering a tiger’s den.

He deliberately crashed into the crevice of the canyon. Last time, he and Yunyao had been stuck to the invisible spider web this way. Sure enough, this time he felt that marvelous spider web again, sticking him firmly like a moth.
