Chapter 197: The Hope of Completing Humanity
Sun Wukong also understood this principle. If it were so easy to complete the Earthly Dao and the Human Dao, how could it have dragged on until now unresolved?
Just looking at the Emperor’s previous sighs, one could tell there were many hidden issues. Besides the challenges inherent in completing the Earthly Dao and the Human Dao themselves, there were likely endless struggles from all sides and probably even issues with the stance of Daoist Ancestor Hong Jun.
He continued to read the following replies.
Du Xiu gave a major hint, "There were indeed mighty beings who tried, such as the Ancestral Witch Houtu, who transformed into the cycle of reincarnation, but the six paths of reincarnation she established were not complete, so the Earthly Dao was incomplete.
Lady Nuwa created humans, presumably to complete the Human Dao, but she also did not accomplish the goal of completing the Human Dao."
Xiong Haizi reflected, "Think about it, from these two events, one can see there is a problem with Daoist Ancestor Hong Jun’s position,
Firstly, it should have been the Twelve Ancestral Witches leading the entire Witch Clan to merge with the Earthly Dao, to establish a complete cycle of the six paths and achieve the completion of the Earthly Dao. However, only the Ancestral Witch Houtu went to transform into the cycle, filling the Earthly Dao.
The remaining eleven Ancestral Witches along with a massive number of Witch Clan members, all perished in the Demon-Witch calamity, severing the hope of completing the Earthly Dao.
As the controller of the Heavenly Dao, Hong Jun could not have been unaware of this. Yet during the Demon-Witch calamity, he did not stop the devastating war between the two clans, simply allowing them to nearly annihilate each other, and then letting the Mysterious Gate Heavenly Court replace the Demon Clan’s Heavenly Court.
This war also depleted the essence left by Pan Gu, and one must remember, the strong individuals from both Demon and Witch clans were transformations of Pan Gu’s body!
