Chapter 2: Love and Loyalty in Battle (R18+)
Heroic Chivalry: The Green Legend – Chapter Two
On the mountainside of a not-so-tall hill outside Qiushui City sat a courtyard. Though not small, it was far less grand than the lavish mansions of the wealthy. Still, for the few people living there, it was spacious, with many rooms left unused.
This courtyard was famous in the small city, and even among the martial world. Though its renown could not compare to the likes of Heroic Chivalry Manor or Righteous Manor, it was the most famous place in the area, for two top-tier martial artists lived there. In the martial world, people called this place the "Qiushui Sword Sect."
The Qiushui Sword Sect took its name from nearby Qiushui City, but in recent years, people remembered the city because of the sect. The sect was founded less than twenty years ago and had only five members: the master Miao Yuyan, her husband Jiang Chong, and their three disciples. If not for Miao Yuyan and Jiang Chong being top experts, no one in the martial world would remember such a small sect. But any sect, no matter how small, with two top-tier experts, would be remembered.
For over a decade, the people of Qiushui City had taken pride in the Qiushui Sword Sect, for the sect not only made their city famous but brought safety as well. There had once been several groups of bandits around the city, but after Miao Yuyan and Jiang Chong arrived, all were wiped out. Not only the bandits, but even the previous city lord who oppressed the people was killed by their swords. The new city lord kept a low profile and set taxes very low, so the people lived well. For this, the people did not thank the city lord, but the Qiushui Sword Sect and Master Miao.
The sect’s members were beloved in the city. When they went to town to buy things, the townsfolk always gave them goods for free. If they tried to pay, people would beg them to take the money back, for anyone who took money from the sect would be scolded by all.
The Qiushui Sword Sect had three disciples. The eldest, Mei Ruoxue, was steady and beautiful, her skin as white as snow, and twenty-one years old. Many men in the city secretly loved her, and if not for the gap in status and ability, there would be many suitors.
The second disciple, Zhao Tianling, was also a woman, lively, cute, innocent, and kind. Though eighteen, she was still like a child, naïve and unguarded. If not for the kindness of the city’s people, she would have been taken advantage of many times.
Both female disciples were very beautiful. Mei Ruoxue was mature and steady, like a big sister next door, while Zhao Tianling was like a wild child, except when in front of Miao Yuyan or Mei Ruoxue.
The third disciple was a boy the youngest at seventeen, named Zhou Xuancong. Like his name, he was very clever. Though the youngest, his talent made him the most skilled in martial arts among the three.
Zhou Xuancong was not only clever but very handsome. Though not yet mature, his looks made many young women in the city fall for him. Over the past two years, many girls tried to get close to him, some even offering themselves to him. Zhou Xuancong, upright as he was, always gently dressed them and sent them home. Some jealous men spread rumors that, though handsome and skilled, Zhou Xuancong was impotent otherwise, why would he not take advantage of such opportunities?
