She smiled graciously, nodding her head in thanks for their adulation. The men in the crowd began to lavish her with praises, their voices ringing out in admiration for her talent.
As Anna sat beside her husband, a wave of contentment washed over her. Above all, it was Kyren’s gaze upon her that truly made her heart race. His eyes were fixed on her, and she felt the warmth of his admiration radiate toward her.
"You surprised me! From the cooking to the singing... How much more don’t I know about my wife?" Kyren’s eyes twinkled with delight as he spoke, a smile etched on his face, clearly impressed by her hidden talents.
Anna laughed softly, feeling proud of her husband’s genuine surprise. "It’s not much of an important talent anyway," she said modestly, her eyes shining with happiness.
As Eric watched the couple, a mischievous glint flickered in his eyes. Suddenly, an idea rose in his mind.
"Let’s play a nice romantic song!" he suggested to the seaman with the mandolin, his voice carrying across the room. "You see, our commander here and his wife are newlyweds."
"Blimey, I never knew that! Congrats to ye, me lord and me lady!" exclaimed the seaman, his eyes widening in surprise. "I’ll play ye a right proper tune to celebrate!"
The knight then turned to Kyren. "Why don’t you ask the lady for a dance?" he suggested, his voice filled with playful encouragement.
Anna’s eyes widened at the knight’s words. "A... dance?" she stammered, her face flushing with colour.
Eli, who had been watching the exchange with great interest, chimed in excitedly. "Yes! What a splendid idea! This would be your first dance with the lady, Commander!" he exclaimed eagerly.
