Chapter 454: Poison 1
The fight lasted one day and one night.
During that time, twenty disciples and three elders fell but the jellyfishes did not fare better.
After the protracted fight, only the level nine, and four level eight jellyfishes remained.
"We are almost there." Luo Jianfeng encouraged but his face was pale and his brows were creased in a frown.
"Elder Bai, take the disciples to recuperate and rest." He instructed and Bai Meng nodded.
After that, she began helping the disciples to slowly retreat from the battlefield.
An hour later, the disciples and most of the elders had returned to the ship, leaving the battlefield to the supreme elders.
"It should be over soon." Dongfang Jing said and Shen Xu nodded with a
distracted expression.
He hadn’t forgotten that the leading jellyfish was a contracted monster.
Because of this, he had been waiting for the other shoe to drop and didn’t dare to relax for even a moment.
"Don’t let your guard down." He reminded, looking at Dongfang Jing and Chen Yi.
"Don’t..." Chen Yi started but a loud crack interrupted his words.
A moment later, a dozen masked people appeared out of thin air and immediately moved.
In the blink of an eye, half of the dozen surrounded Luo Jianfeng and the other supreme elders while the other half jumped onto the ship.
Simultaneously, the half who jumped onto the ship threw dozens of packets and a colourful smoke filled the ship.
"It’s poison powder." Someone exclaimed with a horrified expression.
"Why is the Ten Evils sect suddenly attacking us?" Another angrily shouted.
"Since when does the Ten Evils sect need a reason to attack orthodox cultivators?"
"Stop wasting time on useless questions. Hurry up and protect yourselves."
Chaos ensued and the disciples scrambled to activate isolation talismans and other poison avoiding methods.
Seeing this, Shen Xu and Zhen Yuan exchanged a glance and nodded.
A moment later, Shen Xu threw a level eight killing formation disk and trapped four cultivators.
On the other hand, Zhen Yuan took out a stack of talismans and threw them at the remaining enemies.
However, the talismans didn’t directly attack the enemies.
Instead, they flew in different directions and formed a pattern in the air.
"Lightning talisman-formation, activate." He muttered and narrowed his eyes.
Barely a second later, arm-thick lightning bolts fell from the talismans and began attacking the enemies.
"What’s this?" One of the enemies asked with horrified eyes.
However, he didn’t receive an answer before a lightning bolt struck him, smashing him to the ground.
"Protect yourselves." Another masked person said.
"Master, save me." A female voice resounded and a masked person threw a level eight shield to protect the girl.
Unfortunately, the shield was sturdy but the lightning was too domineering.
Although the shield blocked most of the lightning, the remaining struck the female cultivator, breaking her black mask.
"It’s the poison widow." Someone shouted and the surrounding cultivators shuddered.
The poison widow was the alias of a notorious poison master of the Ten Evils sect.
She was known for forcibly marrying male cultivators and using them to test poisons. Because her lovers often died from poisoning, the female cultivator became popular as the poison widow and few dared to mess with her.
"Ayuan, there is a bounty on the poison widow’s head. We can’t let her escape." Shen Xu said with an excited expression.
Although he and Zhen Yuan didn’t need spirit stones, he was always eager to earn more especially when the spirit stones delivered themselves to their door.
"I know." Zhen Yuan said, narrowed his eyes, and threw another stack of talismans.
"Stop that kid. Don’t let him use that strange attack." One of the masked cultivators shouted and threw a packet at Zhen Yuan.
Seeing the packet, Shen Xu sneered and didn’t even avoid it.
’This is the benefit of being immune to poison.’ He thought and subconsciously rubbed the purple bracelet on his wrist.
However, his distracted expression was soon brought to focus when he heard a loud bang.
A moment later, four cultivators appeared on the deck, looking a little worse for wear.
"Which little beast trapped this old man in a ten thousand swords killing formation?" A peak-stage, Mahayana realm cultivator, angrily questioned.
However, he didn’t wait for an answer before attacking the nearest Tianxuan sect cultivator.
"Are you the little beast?" He asked and slapped the person.
Fortunately, the person was a Mahayana realm elder and could defend himself.
"A Ten Evils sect beast dares to attack my Tianxuan sect ship. I will let you die without leaving a complete corpse." The elder said and began fighting the opponent.
After the initial shock, the Tianxuan sect elders quickly reacted and began counterattacking, hoping to overwhelm the enemies with their number.
However, most of the elders and disciples were poisoned and could barely use half their strength.
’We are at a disadvantage.’ Shen Xu thought and narrowed his eyes.
On one hand, almost everyone was poisoned and couldn’t use their full strength and on the other, even if the Tianxuan cultivators managed to kill the enemy, they would die shortly after from poisoning.
’This is not good.’ He thought and turned to Zhen Yuan.
However, Zhen Yuan was looking at the sky outside the ship and Shen Xu followed his gaze to see what had attracted his lover’s attention.
"Damned it!" He cursed when he saw a supreme elder falling towards the ocean.
"The surrounding ocean water is filled with pink-hair jellyfish poison." He said.
"The poison is not potent enough to kill a tribulation transcending realm cultivator but he will definitely be thrown out of the game. We can’t lose an elder at this time." Zhen Yuan said and without another word, he transformed his law scripting brush into a long whip and swung it towards the elder.
A breath later, the whip looped around the elder’s waist before being pulled back to the ship.
"He looks badly injured." Shen Xu sighed and went to take the elder’s pulse.
Soon after, he forced a pill into the elder’s mouth and turned to Zhen Yuan.
"He won’t die but he is useless in this situation." The double said with a gloomy expression.
