Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy!

Chapter 234: Belong There

The last of them disappeared only leaving behind burning ashes and thick stench of blood. Rhistel turned to Lilliana with a grim expression. "What did she mean? About the ritual and the bloodwitch?"

Lilliana slowly got to her feet, her robes torn, her hands shaking as she wiped the blood from her lips. Her gaze lingered on the altar where Olivia hovered, suspended mid-air by a force none of them could touch. "The ritual was meant to awaken dormant witches," she said quietly. "The idea was... to reawaken magic lost through bloodline decay. It was never meant for a true bloodwitch. I thought it would simply amplify her gifts. But..."

She paused, and Rhistel narrowed his eyes. "But what?"

"I don’t know what the blood will do to her." Her voice cracked. "Blood Witches are born with magic that feeds on power, not just their own... but others’. As if it is a loving predator. If the blood on the altar recognized her as its true vessel... then the ritual didn’t just awaken her. It may have fed her powers, something even she can’t control."

Rhistel swore under his breath and turned toward Damon.

Damon stood just a few paces from the altar, with his hands raised. but he couldn’t take a step forward. An invisible force shimmered like heat between him and Olivia, stopping him cold. He tried to move again, his feet grinding against the stone, but it was like walking into a wall of iron wind.

"Olivia!" he shouted. "Can you hear me?"

The mist had all but vanished now, but Olivia’s body was still suspended, arms loose at her sides, her head tilted back. Her eyes were closed. Her hair flowed upward unnaturally, as if underwater.

"Damn it," Damon hissed, slamming a fist against the invisible barrier.
