Chapter 221: Not The Only One!
Evelyn grinned at Olivia’s sharp response and gave an elegant nod, as if conceding a point in a game they’d both agreed to play.
They stayed in the tea house for over an hour.
Olivia watched every move Evelyn made, but Evelyn did nothing out of line. She ate her pastries slowly, commenting on their taste and ambiance. Olivia took two bites but the food felt like lead. Perhaps, she was thinking way too much but meeting Olivia was not a coincidence. She was the one who had planned it yet, it felt like she was the one trapped.
She looked at the sky again, it was close to sunset. If they want to perform a ritual, they must do it tonight. But why had she not attempted to take her blood? Olivia’s nerves were stretched taut. Not because she feared Evelyn, but because nothing had happened.
If Evelyn had wanted her blood, this was the perfect time. Olivia had come unguarded, unescorted, and more importantly, willing. She had sipped from her cup, nibbled the pastries, allowed herself to be alone with a woman she believed could kill her.
But Evelyn hadn’t made a single move.
"It is getting late. I have already spent a long time with you. We should leave, my lady." Olivia watched in confusion as Evelyn stood up, ready to leave.
Why?" Olivia asked, turning to face her fully.
Evelyn tilted her head. "Why what, my lady?"
