"Ha! Look at the nerve of the girl." Bernard laughed as soon as she turned. He did not even wait for her to leave the room completely.
Yet Olivia did not even flinch. She left the room with her back straight. The kids beside her stiffened and held her tightly.
"She is still attempting to seduce you my lord! The woman had no shame." he cursed with disgust in his voice.
"She did not even need to do that!" Damon spoke back when everyone thought that he would not reply. "She did not remember the time when she had joined the manor."
The man frowned and looked at others. When they all looked equally stunned, he frowned and spat, "you could not be serious. She is acting weak to gain your sympathy. She is..."
"Is she now?" Damon’s lips cursed as he met the eyes of the man speaking nonsense. "Even once she did not hesitate or cry as you had hoped. She left with her head raised high. Even offering help as if we need her!" the words may not be harsh but the way his cold eyes stared at Benard, he felt cold sweat on his back. Yet he could not accept it.
They were here to support Damon. He should be grateful.
"My lord, are you taking her side?" The voice was instigating and everyone turned to look at Damon at once.
Damon stared at the man. His lips slightly curled but only a fool would believe he was smiling. His eyes are getting darker.
