Chapter 95: Pair Up
"Shall we discuss business now?" She did not believe him. This much was clear from her eyes and amused smile.
"The drought is creating trouble for the empire. Since you have won the war, you have opened the path of duchy. It will connect the empire from the eastern countries and we can trade food from there. This is an important reason why his majesty had rewarded you with a wish. What did you ask by the way?" she blinked her face looking naive and innocent but Damon would be a fool to believe that she was naive.
Yet... her bright eyes seem to pull him. He looked away and coughed.
"Yes! As you said the problem will be solved as long as we increase trade between two countries." he cleared his mind a bit but looking at a big smirk on her face, he felt at a loss again.
"The eastern country will not agree at once since it would affect their own food security. They want something of equal value in return. Not gold or gems." How the hell did you know that?
He looked at her with narrowed eyes full of doubts. Olivia knew that she was taking a gamble from the start. The more she shares with them, the more they will doubt her. But she did not have any choice. Her experience and her knowledge for the future is her only weapon.
"I will not share my source of information." she straightened her back and looked at him resolutely. "You can always choose to not trust me and walk away. But since you already know.." she did not continue but Damon understood.
Since she had already predicted the attacks of the opposite party precisely, she could predict this too.
Damon took a deep breath. It would be a lie if he said he was not tempted to know her secrets.
