Chapter 54: She Has Burdens To Endure!
It took a second to Oriana to reply. They have not Pleaded her to stay with them. They only want her to eat the meal together and then leave as if she was not needed.
Her eyes narrowed and her chest tightened. A strange emptiness felt there.
"Ha! And why should I listen to you?" Oriana turned to leave. Olivia looked at her with dimmed eyes. At least she had put in some effort!
"It is alright, we can still have fun." She looked at the lingering gaze of the kids and felt remorseful. She had made so many attempts to change Oriana’s heart but nothing seemed to work.
"But mother.." Abi sniffled as she watched her mother leaving. She wanted to follow her but was afraid that she would only be scolded.
"Did you not hear her? She is leaving because she is busy!" Leo pulled Abi toward the sea. "She is the duchess, how could she swim in the water in public." His voice had a hint of sarcasm. Oriana could still hear them. She only gritted her teeth as she heard her kids. Ha! They were mocking her! Good! Very good!
When she turned, Olivia had taken the kids toward the shore. The warm waves of the sea were washing their feet. They only walked closer until the strong waves were hitting them like never before.
"What if they fall?" she gasped and took a step forward until she heard her guard.
"The shores are safe, your grace. And there are three guards in the distance in case something goes wrong. The kids are safe. They are only... enjoying it." Only then did Oriana stop. She watched the giggling faces of their kids intently.
