Chapter 10: They Will Not Harm Me!
Damon pulled her away and hid inside the small changing room attached to his large. His room had minimum furniture but the size and look of the room were befitting to the heir of a dukedom.
The changing room had only a few clothes. A large mirror covering the other side and a chair. Damon leaned on the wall and she leaned on his chest. It was hot. Too hot! The touch was making her nervous. Her breath was rugged and her eyes. She closed them and took a few breaths.
Damon shifted his weight from left to right feet. This was the first time he had held a girl in his arms. It felt strange. And her shifting again and again was not helping at all.
His chest was burning where she was leaning. And the soft smell of honey had engulfed him completely. Did she take a bath in it? Why was he carving for it?
He looked away and concentrated on the voice in his room. He heard two footsteps.
"No one is here." someone whispered in confusion.
"Keep looking, he might be hiding somewhere." the other one added coldly as they checked his room. Occasional sound of throwing something can be heard in the distance. Olivia heard it too and her eyes widened.
She didn't know the exact details of the attacks on him. But she knew that they come occasionally. Only once or twice in a year so that it did not get the attention of the knights in the palace.
It was less than a week ago when he was last attacked. How could he be attacked again? How closely had he faced death? Has it made him so cold? She could never forget the look in his eyes when he had announced the death sentence to them.
