Chapter 6: She Can Stay!
"What did you say?" It was not a question but a warning. And Oriana made sure that it would be conveyed to Olviia by the look in her sharp and cold eyes.
Olivia sucked in a deep breath. If she showed her fear now. How would her future be any different from her past? It was her first test and she could not afford to fail it.
"Abi is feeling better. She can stay." Oriana's eyes narrowed and her lips parted. Not only was she shocked but furious beyond limit.
"She is my daughter." Oriana challenged as she took a step forward and stared at Abi. The look in her eyes accused Abi for this argument. The little girl shivered. She had already wrapped her tiny arms around her aunt Olivia. But even that was not enough to feel secure when her mother glared at her. Abi shivered badly.
Olivia's heart broke. In the past, she would have given in. if not for her, then for Abi. for her safety! But she had learnt harsh lessons. Her submission did not save Abi. even Oriana could not be saved.
Olviia held the girl tightly, securing her in her arms.
"I know. But you have been a busy sister. I have taken care of her these days. The physician said.."
"Olivia, there seems to be a misunderstanding." Oriana's voice lowered to a dangerous level. "Maids took care of this palace. But that did not mean it belonged to them. Right? I have to announce the death penalty for a few of them if they develop this kind of illusion." even the maids standing far away could feel her wrath. They shivered and bowed their heads deeper. They were afraid that they would be included in the mess without a reason.
Leo's heart fell. His stomach churned. What was his aunt thinking? How could she challenge his mother in front of guests?
