Chapter 257: Kill Them All
"Where are you?" Alric asked, his voice low but tense.
Nora paused, her breath catching. She realized the question wasn’t directed at her. Yet, she couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Hadn’t he handed over his phone to the kidnappers earlier?
The voice on the other end of the line was strained, likely in the middle of a fight. "This is the Night Queen Bar, a notorious hotspot for criminals. We’re here, but it’ll take time to get to you. There are too many layers to get through. Are you holding up?"
Sitting close to Alric, practically on his lap, Nora could hear the sounds of chaos through the phone. Gunshots and grunts of pain filled the air.
"Take your time," Alric replied coolly, his calm demeanor almost eerie. "But make sure no one survives. Leave no witnesses for the police."
Nora froze, staring at him in disbelief. His face, a mask of icy detachment, betrayed no remorse for condemning so many lives. This was the man she thought she knew fomr her past. not the businessman running hospitals and charities for the poor.
"What are you—"
"I maintain balance," he interrupted, his voice calm, almost casual, as if reading her thoughts. A faint smirk tugged at his lips, one that chilled her to the bone. "For every life I save, I take another."
She was speechless. His words unsettled her, but why should she judge? Her hands weren’t clean either. Besides, it wasn’t as if she didn’t already know about his past—about how he’d killed his own family.
