Chapter 112: Interwined Fates
It had been three days since the result was announced. Multiple tests had been taken as revision for their terminal exam. Though top ten students were exempted from giving the terminal exam, they were asked to give these revision tests. So that they could be used as the basis of their result making and it would help them for competition too.
Every face turned sour. Since Nora came first in every revision test. Whether it was English or Maths, French or humanities. She had excelled in all of them.
"A student should be weak in one subject at least. How could she excel in all of them!" a girl could not help but grumble. "Penny, i am telling you she is using some technology to cheat and teachers could not catch it. A student who used to come last in the class could not progress this much so easily." she grumbled with hatred and disgust. Penny only smiled and lowered her head.
"Kate, I am glad that you have become my friend so easily. When I shifted to your room I thought you would not like me because of the rumors. But you do not need to worry about me. I am used to it now. Nora is soaring high. As long as she did not drag me anymore. I do not care about it." She covered her face with her hands. Her shoulders trembled slightly but then she inhaled a deep breath and smiled at Kate.
Her smile was so caring that Kate grumbled something under her breath but started writing in her file again. She failed to notice how Penny’s eyes twinkled.
"Kate, since your family is not coming. Would you like to go to my house this weekend? My mother is making pies." She put her pen down and looked at Kate with worry. Kate went silent. Everyone believed that she was another charity case with no parents. That was why no one ever noticed her. Penny was the first to extend her hands. She felt gratitude but she also felt guilty.
The truth was her family was one of the richest families in Korea. But she wanted to explore the world so she had come to study here. The result was, her parents did not send her money. They told her if she wanted to explore the world, she should have skills to do that.
"Umm Penny, about that.." she did not know how to explain.
"Do not worry, my mother is kind. She would not ask you questions you do not like." Penny shook her head. Pity! She would show a lot of pity to this girl and use her as a pawn against Nora. Girls like her were easy to fool as long as you gave a few gifts and homely food.
