Chapter 57: A Prey And A Predator
In the dimly lit room,
Penny changed her clothes hurriedly. Then she used a dark red shade of lipstick and smokey eye makeup. Penny had good facial features, with makeup, they looked exquisite. Confident that she would be able to gain his attention, she hurriedly went downstairs only to see no one was there.
Her brow furrowed and she looked around. The maids were already cleaning the table and when asked, they shook their heads and sighed.
"Miss, you should go and rest. Madam would be angry if she came to know that you have come down the stairs, dressed up like this." Penny glared at the oldest maid of the mansion. Did she think she was the owner now? Still when she noticed the stern look in her eyes, Penny bit her lips and went up.
Her mother was too furious last time and against him meeting Benard. But she did not understand why? She had searched enough on the internet to know that the man was a millionaire, a conglomerate whose business was well settled in a few countries. He was much richer than they could ever be.
"Do you know my father needs his help?" Penny retorted as she climbed the stairs back, "I was only trying to help father." the maid rolled her eyes. She had seen Penny growing up. She knew what kind of help the young girl was offering.
"Even if madam would keep her safe from his man, she was bound to fall for others." the maid sighed as she picked the tray, "how could an apple fall away from the tree." her last words earned a chuckle from her friends.

Penny bit her lips. She was not going to accept defeat so easily. All she wanted to do was to meet that man. Why was everyone making such a big scene out of it?
