Chapter 55: Broke Her Hands
He raised a brow but waved his hands to ask her to continue. Nora bit her lips and sat on the corner of the bed. Her eyes looked at the distance. She had promised herself that she was not going to trust anyone in this life.
She had made enough mistakes in her past life. She would not look for love too. She had only suffered because she was waiting for love from her so-called family to save her loved daughter. Her eyes closed, her nails dug deep into her skin.
Alex stared at her every expression and action with narrowed eyes. His chest filled with strange frustration. Why did he even care about her? He had only taken her because she looked pitiful. But now..
"Nora.." censured in his voice that made her glare at him.
"What is it? Why do you know about it? Have I ever asked why you ignore your own family? Why do you hide from them? Everyone has their own skeleton in their closets. And one had to carry those skeletons themselves." without waiting for his reply, she ran out of the room.
When she came out, she noticed a few boys standing in the lobby. If she crossed them, they would know she was in a man’s room way past the meeting hours. Then she could never get rid of the rumors.
She cursed Alex in her heart as she bit her lips and took a step back. It was a long lobby with twenty rooms on both sides. At one end, there were common sports rooms and the other end led to a garden, if only she could walk there without. Suddenly, she turned, her hands ready to attack another person but paused when she noticed it was only Alex.
He looked much calmer now. He was holding a hoodie in his hands. "Wear it." The words were full of calm storms. She hesitated only for a second before taking it and lowering her head.
Alex walked to the other side and shut all the lights of the lobby.
"Hey who did that?" the group of boys who were chatting leisurely groaned and complained.
"I did!" Alex announced in a dominating voice. "I was trying to sleep but the light coming from the windows did not let me." while he shouted toward the boys. He signaled her from the other hand.
Inhaling a deep breath, she ran to the other hand of the lobby. She heard some laughter and some jokes but she did not pay them any head.
