Chapter 610 - 361: Calm and Unrest
The proposition of extraterrestrials.
It has always been particularly captivating.
From ancient myths to modern science fiction, humanity has never ceased imagining and exploring extraterrestrial life.
Chen Yun was no exception.
Even though he could be called the God of Mankind, he still felt an unstoppable curiosity about things beyond this world.
Europa was a good place for this.
In the entire Solar System, other than Earth and perhaps Mars, Europa was the next most likely place to harbor life.
Europa, the fourth largest moon of Jupiter, was considered one of the most likely places to host life mainly for the following reasons:
First, it possessed a subsurface salty liquid water ocean; water is one of the basic conditions for life, thus this discovery greatly increased the probability of Europa being a potentially habitable planet.
Second was the source of energy; although the surface temperature of Europa is extremely low, its interior, through tidal heating—Jupiter’s gravitational pull causing periodic stretching and compression—could generate sufficient heat to support simple life forms.
Additionally, there might be hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor of Europa, similar to Earth’s deep-sea hydrothermal vents, providing necessary chemical energy to organisms.
